Black lacquer Mother of pearl screen is always the trademark of chinese traditional handmade furniture. The background of the screen is painted in black lacquer with drawings of gold landscape design and then pieces of mother of pearl figurines are embossed on the front to give it a 3 dimension effect. The back of this screen is painted in black matted paint with gold painting of bamboo design. Clear lacquered finish for that distinctive  glossy look.
