THE CHINESE LACQUER FURNITURE STORY
Lacquer furniture has a history that dates back thousands of years. The skill and techniques of making this furniture has been handed down from generation to generation. Further to the base coat being applied, the furniture is treated to several layers of natural lacquer. The craftsman paints the fine gold coloured detail and decoration by hand on the front, the top and also on the sides of the furniture. All the drawers are lined with velvet.A final lacquer coat is then applied resulting in a truly exquisite work of art. In the 18th century, most stately homes have a piece of lacquer furniture to grace their homes, but now with our direct import from China, lacquer furniture is no longer reserved for the rich and privileged but affordable for everyone.
